Artist Pay and Conditions Policy 2024

LD Dance Shawbrook greatly values artists and the work they create at Shawbrook. We are passionate about supporting artists on their creative journeys and want ensure they receive the appropriate remuneration they deserve. Our dedication to ensuring fair and equitable remuneration is informed by the Paying the Artist Policy.

We pay our contracted artists above the recommended wage following the conditions of employment from ITC/equity, the minimum wage per week. LD Dance Shawbrook's explicit policy is to pay the best possible pay which on average falls to approx. €1,200 per week. This is reviewed on a project-by-project bases to align with the experience of each artist.

Artists receive a contract letter and wages are detailed, the letter must be signed and returned. All payments are made electronically upon receipt of invoices.

Along side the Arts Council Pay the Artist policy we also review all latest publications relating to fair pay and conditions for artists including a recent report release in June 2023 by Theatre Forum - “Pay and Conditions in the Music Industry and Performing Arts Sector” to reference one example.

Environmental Policy and Plan 2024

From the repurposing of existing barns and outhouses into dance studios, theatre and accommodation and the incorporation of sustainable water and wastewater systems to the planting of 150,000 broad-leaf trees on what had been the Dawson dairy farm for generations, sustainability has been a core philosophy of our operation since inception.

We have developed this environmental plan as part of our ongoing commitment to minimising our environmental impact. The plan is intended to be a living document and will be reviewed periodically as we progress on our sustainability journey.
